For this research, the general objective was to know the emotional intelligence in boys and girls from 8 to 10 years of age around bullying in an educational institution in Mocoa - Putumayo; for this, the qualitative method was applied by means of data collection through in-depth interviews, where the results of a sample made up of 20 boys and girls of school age were obtained.
In the results obtained, it was evidenced that the children presented a positive and negative knowledge of emotional intelligence, with the exception of social skills since in this component they presented a low level of knowledge, in general, the children have a more developed motivation factor, empathy, relationship with others besides. In conclusion, it was possible to identify that children have good emotional intelligence; however, social skills should be further developed since, it is where they present difficulties in their integral development, on the other hand, it is important to highlight that the family is the first protector and where minors acquire social skills, for this reason, there must be co-responsibility together with the educational institution for getting children.
