Description of the characteristics of situations of risk of school dropout in adolescents from 12 to 14 years of age belonging to an educational institution in Vélez-Santander

School dropout is a term commonly used around the world to refer to dropping out of school. This is the situation in which the student, after a cumulative process of separation or withdrawal, begins to withdraw before the time established by the educational system without obtaining a grade or a school certificate. This research project aims to describe the characteristics of situations of risk of school dropout in adolescents aged 12 to 14, belonging to an educational institution in Vélez-Santander. Its method is quantitative, with a final sample of 20 surveys with 25 questions. It was identified that the main characteristics that affect school dropout are several, however the educational institution factor, family factor and economy factor stand out with greater relevance, as a large index of characteristics that determine one of the main causes of school dropout. Education is a right and as a right it is a public service, which favors the acquisition, continuity and improvement of the culture acquired during the academic processes. Those responsible for education are the State, the family and society; Therefore, it is relevant that this research is a starting point for future analyzes and studies with a greater impact, seeking better strategies that guarantee a better quality of life for students.
