Resilience capacity in the daily life of boys and girls between 5 and 7 years old in a rural educational institution in Nechí (Antioquia): Resilience capacity in the daily life of boys and girls between 5 and 7 years old
Synopsis
Resilience is "the ability to adapt to adverse events, overcome them and be able to achieve successful progress" (Fínez Silva et al., 2019, p.85). Many of these adversities occur in children, for such reason, this research comprises the resilience capacity at the family, school and social level of children from 5 to 7 years old of a Rural Educational Institution of Nechí (Antioquia), based on the social realities lived by its inhabitants, who have been victims of the Colombian armed conflict and therefore, it has an impact on the mentioned child population, which is evident in behaviors that reflect from their parents, guardians or caregivers.
Under this purpose, qualitative research is established in line with the phenomenological approach, since it allows exploring the different situations of life and the world, from a subjective perspective; the research is carried out with a sample of 20 parents or significant adults of the population under study and 2 teachers, through the technique of information gathering - semi-structured interviews.
As a result of the answers of the interviewees, categories, subcategories, and emerging contributions of the open and axial coding are denoted, which were then triangulated with Manfred Max-Neef's theory.
From the development of the research, it is concluded that, from the family, school, and social context, it is possible to understand resilience in children belonging to a rural educational institution of Nechí Antioquia, considering that the environment in which they socialize must allow them to overcome the different unfavorable circumstances, such as: violence, abuse, neglect, student abandonment, etc.; since, these permeate their healthy psychosocial development.
