With the purpose of determining which are the environmental factors that affect mental health for the integral development of boys and girls of the transition grade in an Educational Institution of the Municipality of Sibaté, Cundinamarca, a qualitative approach research, phenomenological type, was carried out. in which the direct observation technique was applied by collecting data through field diaries and documentary analysis. The foregoing led to interpretations around: the environmental factors that affect mental health, the analysis of public mental health policies in Colombia and the lack of policies for the protection of the mental health of children who are governed by fundamental rights.
As a result, it was identified that environmental factors such as: school environment, family and friends; they affect mental health since they offer conditioning elements that affect the child's growth; evidencing that the first years of life of every individual, is of particular importance given that it is a stage characterized by the acquisition of various tools that allow him to perform throughout life. And if this is not the case, the necessary indicators for development and expression cannot be developed. Likewise, it is established that mental health in Colombia continues to be a public health problem where it is clear that there is a lack of coherence between what is proposed and what happens. In which, in addition to aspects such as promotion and prevention, it has multiple flaws associated with the lack of political leadership, low social interest and lack of management. In conclusion, it was determined that there are multiple aspects that condition and affect the lack of public policies; where one of them is the lack of recognition of social factors. Regarding the contributions, there is a reflective process that generates contributions that could be used by future research for the consolidation of public mental health policies.
