Technological Mediations in Early Childhood Education: Understandings from the Experiences of Children in Colombia : Technological Mediations in Early Childhood Education: Understandings from the Experiences of Children in Colombia
Synopsis
The project Technological Mediations in Early Childhood Education: Understandings from the Experiences of Children in Colombia characterizes with a differential approach the experience of children aged 5 to 6 in Colombia in relation to technology-mediated education, making use of research methods with children.
The study is justified on three basic premises: 1. In Colombia, the Ministry of National Education of Colombia (MEN), the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MinTIC) and the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF) have promulgated guidelines and initiatives aimed at promoting the integration of technologies in the education of children from early childhood. 2. Remote education and the integration of technologies in early childhood education became a strategy to guarantee children's right to education during the COVID-19 pandemic; That said, it was evident that technological mediation occupied a leading place in early childhood education in times of pandemic and teacher inexperience in this regard was a challenge to overcome. 3. Children, as subjects of rights, have the capacities and dispositions to participate in matters that affect their lives; Consequently, the participating children have the opportunity to express their voices in relation to their educational experience with technologies, knowledge considered fundamental to advance knowledge in relation to the use of technological mediations in early childhood education.
