Synopsis

The following research work focuses on executing a feasibility study for the design of the production processes in the manufacture of polyester fabrics from plastic in the city of Bogotá, the proposal originates from the current pollution emanated by the plastic and the great damage it causes to the environment and nature. The foregoing, as future professionals in Engineering, seeks to contribute to the reduction and sustainability of industrial processes.

The problem is the lack of information from society regarding the recycling of plastic, what we can use it for, how it benefits us and its importance in caring for the environment, in this case, the objective is to establish a feasibility study that allows transforming PET plastic into polyester fabric of different types of fabrics. Fabrics made from PET bottles is one of the most convenient ways to recycle plastic bottles and prevent the accumulation of these

The three stages correspond to
1. Collection of bottles to sterilize, dry and classify by color to be later crushed by small chips.
2. The chips are heated and passed through a windrow to form strings of yarn that are wound onto spools.
3. The fiber is then passed through a crimping machine to create a fluffy texture, this yarn is baled, dyed and woven into polyester fabric.
